Vale Kat Muscat

Today the literary community is struggling to find the right words to express our grief at the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Kat Muscat – writer, editor and feminist.

Kat has been an integral part of our organisation and had a wide and deeply felt impact. From the moment she stepped into the Express Media office ten years ago as a member of the Editorial Committee, her enthusiasm, intelligence, empathy and great talent were immediately visible. During her time as Editor of Voiceworks from 2012 to 2014 she helped shape the career of young writers and editors from all around Australia.

The influence of her friendship, guidance and social conscience is beyond measure. Kat’s legacy will continue to be felt by Express Media, the writing community, and those who knew her for many years to come.
