Say hello to Edie, our new Voiceworks designer!

We are thrilled to announce Edie Hopgood as our new designer for Voiceworks.

Edie (22) is a Creative and Writer based in Naarm. Her interests span disciplines such as Marketing, Journalism, Fashion and Graphic design. She has a keen interest in publication design and an affinity for magazines and publishing, especially promoting opportunity and inclusion within the industry.

“I was drawn to Voiceworks due to the opportunity it provides for young writers, artists and designers. Creative and journalistic passions and pursuits are often undervalued, especially in the Australian media industry, so it's always refreshing to see publications championing and supporting the work of budding writers and artists!”

On drawing inspiration and her creative practice, she says, “I am a really physical designer and rely a lot on my physical references to spark ideas for my in-progress works. I have amassed quite a collection of magazines over the years (which is a real pain as a sharehouser), but they are always my go-to when designing, especially for other magazines, and just for gaining inspiration in general. Additionally, I'm passionate about considering both expression and equity within my design practice, so I'm always looking at how I can cater my works for a range of people, perspectives and abilities.

For me, I love designing journals and magazines because it is the convergence of my two passions - writing and designing. For as long as I can remember I have been interested in both industries, and I think my knowledge of both also supports me in working in both fields as I'm always considering one when doing the other!”
