Julia Carlomagno is a senior editor at independent publisher Black Inc. She has previously worked at Scribe Publications and Penguin Books, where she edited fiction and nonfiction, and Macmillan, where she edited illustrated books for children. For a time she co-ran a literary journal, harvest. A former member of Voiceworks EdComm and judge of Express Media prizes, Julia has been involved with EM for fifteen years. In 2012 she and then CEO Joe Toohey established the Scribe Nonfiction Prize for Young Writers, which in 2018 enters its sixth year. Julia is a graduate of the Yale Publishing Course and co-winner (with author Craig Munro) of the 2016 Barbara Ramsden Award, recognising a collaboration between author and editor. She holds a Master in Publishing and Communications and teaches first-year editing at RMIT University.
