Craig Garrett (former Voiceworks editor — 1998–2000) is a Brisbane-based writer, editor and broadcaster whose work has appeared in the Sleepers Almanac, Strange4, Meanjin, Wet Ink, West of the West, The Big Issue and Visible Ink. In addition to living and working in Timor-Leste for three years, he’s completed a Masters in Creative Writing, seen whales and sharks, and in 2008 he became an uncle. His first novel Transition Events is still awaiting a publisher, but he’s working on two more: Magpie and A Country of Second-Hand? (supported by a Creative Writing PhD scholarship at Griffith University). An extract from Magpie was short listed for Wet Ink’s 2011 Short Story Prize.
