NYWM: Day Ten

Don’t forget today is the final day for entries to the Stringybark Seven Deadly Sins Short Fiction Award.

Poets, it is your last day to submit to the Arts Queensland Val Vallis Award for Unpublished Poetry. Details here.

West Australian writers, do you have a script you want to develop? The latest round of applications for the Stages Script Development Project closes today.

Sunday Session – take a day off writing and find some inspiration to recharge your creative battery.

Last week we took a break with the auditory, this week it seems fitting to find something visual.

Have you delved into Pinterest? Pinterest is a visual smorgasboard you can curate to suit your own interests. This is a great article on how writers can use Pinterest for research, ideas and networking. Here are some suggestions of literary Pinterest people and boards to follow:

From craft ideas for book pages to typography projects to display your love of the written word, the DIY board from Chronicle Books is a treat.

Penguin Books collect humor for writers in their The Writer’s Life board.

Check out this collection of literary tattoos!

Search to see if your favourite author is on Pinterest. Two of mine are! Lili Wilkinson and Penny Russon share loads on their boards.

How about this set of drool-worthy bookshelves and book paraphernalia?

You can’t go past the New York Public Library Pinterest account.

Of course there are always the trusty independent booksellers and publishers such as Readings, Bookish, Scribe Publications and Wakefield Press.

Check out if your local library are on Pinterest. Yarra Plenty Regional Library in Victoria have an awesome Pinterest account, ordered by dewy decimal of course!

Today the NYWM Travelling Story is in New South Wales. Our daily writer is Saba Vayana-Lai, 18, from Kellyville.
