What is your NYWM goal?

To finally get started on my novella! I’ve been focusing on short stories over the past few years but there’s always been this one complex idea in my mind that deserves space to unwind. It’s time I sat down and worked on it.

What kind of writing do you do?

Short fiction, poetry.

What inspires or motivates you to write and reach your goals?

The idea that there are so many stories just waiting to come alive on the page! There are personal benefits to it, like grappling with complex emotions or channeling your creativity into a writing project. Then there are wider social benefits: writing is one of the best ways to connect people in a shared human experience, whether it be fiction or non-fiction.

What are you currently reading?

The Children’s Bach by Helen Garner – I love it! It’s beautifully written, and it’s always great to read a story based in the city you live in. All you other writers based in Melbourne should read it some time.
