Julia Carlomagno is the senior editor at independent publishing house Scribe Publications. She has previously worked as an editor at Penguin and Macmillan, and was a founding editor of the literary journal harvest (2007–09). A former member of the Voiceworks EdComm and judge of various Express Media prizes, Julia has been involved with the organisation for over a decade. Books that Julia has edited have been nominated for the US National Book Award, the Walkley Award for Nonfiction, the Ned Kelly Award for Crime Writing, the Bragg Prize for Science Writing, the Dobbie Award for the first book by a female writer and the Barbara Ramsden Award for Editing. In 2012 Julia worked with Express Media’s CEO Joe Toohey to establish the Scribe Nonfiction Prize for Young Writers, the first Australian prize dedicated to longform nonfiction writing by young writers. Julia holds a Master in Publishing and Communications and teaches first-year editing at RMIT University.
