Announcing Express Media’s 2017 Program

Express Media is here for young writers. Whether you’re working on your very first piece or you’re ready to launch your career, we’re here to support you, provide access to opportunities, and to connect you to a community of young writers across the country.

We’re excited to launch our 2017 Program, which sees us reaching corners of Australia where we haven’t been before. We’ve got a bevy of opportunities and prizes for you to sink your teeth (and your pens) into.

Throughout 2017 there are countless opportunities to ensure you – young writers and lovers of lit – can keep reading, writing and discovering new ways to express yourself.  Whatever your 2017 writing goals may be, Express Media is here to help you achieve them.

Four new issues of Voiceworks

In 2017, we encourage you to get stuck into the poetry, fiction, nonfiction, comics and art found in each issue of Voiceworks, Australia’s premier youth literary journal, and challenge you to submit your own work for feedback and publication.

Voiceworks kicks off the year with the release of issue #107 on the theme of ‘Relic’, which will be launched at locations across Australia in March.

We’re making Tracks to your community

We’re hitting the road with Tracks – a travelling pop-up program for young writers making pit stops across the country throughout the year.

In 2017, we’re bringing the best of our workshops, masterclasses, networking opportunities and special events to a community near you. Exciting day-long events are happening in Adelaide, Geelong, Brisbane and Perth.

Bring Express Media to your secondary school

Express Media works with teachers and students in secondary schools to build essential literary skills, develop young people’s voices and support them to achieve their creative goals.

Schools workshops are available in poetry, nonfiction, short fiction, graphic narratives and creating your own publication. Plus, we bring Voiceworks, Australia’s premier literary journal, into your classrooms.

More prizes and opportunities

We’re thrilled to recognise and develop outstanding talent through The John Marsden & Hachette Australia Prize for Young Writers and The Scribe Nonfiction Prize for Young Writers, and we’re honoured to offer The Kat Muscat Fellowship to support a female-identifying or non-binary writer or editor.
