Zakka ♥ : works by Minaxi May at Paper Mountain

Minaxi May, ‘Macaron Gaultier’

“Zakka” is a Japanese word meaning ‘many things.’ It is also an eastern phenomenon; a trend centered on contemporary handicrafts, objects that will improve your life. In retro Japanese and Scandinavian styles, zakka is everything cute and kitsch. In this typically playful exhibition, Minaxi May explores the tenuous states of art, design and function through a series of small-scale sculptural works, with a colour palette inspired by 100’s & 1000’s candy. Zakka ♥ is a celebration of everyday materials, colour and a pop-readymade aesthetic.
