Introducing Incoming Voiceworks Editor – Lucy Adams
Express Media is pleased to announce the appointment of Lucy Adams as the new editor of its flagship publication, Voiceworks.
Voiceworks is Australia’s premier youth literary journal. As editor, Lucy will oversee its production, leading a team of volunteer editors to create the quarterly publication of poetry, fiction, articles, comics and visual artwork by people under 25.
Lucy has previously worked with Express Media as the editor of Buzzcuts at Melbourne International Film Festival and as the Administration Intern for Voiceworks in 2014. She is a current fiction editor on the Voiceworks Editorial Committee and has recently supported the organisation through administration and judging of prizes.
“Express Media and Voiceworks have been my family for the past two years, and I feel honoured to contribute in this new capacity as Voiceworks Editor. To me, Voiceworks is pure magic, and I’m excited to continue its work in developing the skills of young writers, artists and editors,” said Lucy.
Express Media CEO and General Manager, Pippa Bainbridge, said the staff are delighted to welcome Lucy to the role.
“As well as being a dedicated and valued member of our community, Lucy brings a broad range of skills to her new position. Her background in neuroscience, skills as a writer and editor, and experience in film-making and podcasting will bring an exciting new perspective to the publication,” Pippa said.
As a developmental position, the role of Voiceworks Editor is offered on a contract basis, allowing a new aspiring editor to put their stamp on the publication every two years. Lucy follows in the footsteps of Elizabeth Flux, who has been the Voiceworks Editor since 2014.
“I’ve had the utter privilege of being mentored by previous Voiceworks Editors Elizabeth Flux and Kat Muscat, and if I can uphold the exceptionally high standard set by these remarkable word wizards, I will consider my editorship a resounding success,” said Lucy.
Lucy will be commencing her position with Express Media mid-March.
