Aleksandr was presented with the award online at the National Young Writers Festival at a special event, and won a $500 cash prize, an exclusive book pack from Hachette Australia and acknowledgement of their winning entry in Express Media’s flagship publication Voiceworks. i see u,

as u see me,

through eyes of rich heritage,

from continents full of history.

blood from yorkshire roses,

deep black roots from sunburnt country,

blackbird songs + irish proses,

baiame’s touch meets germanic voyage.

in ur eyes i see it too,

roots of opposing trees intertwined,

green-brown eyes glow with excellence,

kriol love: hearts aligned.
