The event will bring together the Express Media board, staff, volunteers and alumni, young writers participating in our programs and from within the broader literary community, friends, families and colleagues, for a night of acknowledgement and celebration.

Awards presented at the event include the winners of the coveted John Marsden/Hachette Australia Prize for Young Writers and the Scribe Nonfiction Prize, as well as the best of Express Media publicationsVoiceworks, The Under Age, The Signal Express and Buzzcuts, and the inaugural Outstanding Achievement by a Young Person in the Literary Arts Award. Winners of these awards will receive prizes ranging from book packs and subscriptions, through to development and publication opportunities as well as cash prizes.

The 2015 Express Media Awards will also feature the launch of the Signal Express zine, Derailed, issue #102 of Voiceworks on the theme of ‘Defiance’, and a new fellowship in honour of our friend and past Voiceworks Editor, Kat Muscat.
