Rafael Ward

Rafael Ward is a writer, teacher, and current Express Media Schools Program Producer. Having been a teacher himself in the program since 2015, and part of the Voiceworks team since 2009, Rafael has spent a lot of time helping writers develop their craft.

In his own writing, he explores all genres and styles including short stories, non-fiction and poetry. A past fiction editor for Voiceworks, Catalyst and Ex Calamus Magazines, he has also been a competition judge, presented on panels, and president of the Monash Creative Writers’ Club. He has over fifty published pieces online and off, including in The Big Issue Fiction Edition, The Sleepers Almanac, and Award Winning Australian Writing.

He also teaches creative writing, and chess in schools all around Victoria, and was RMIT University’s inaugural ‘Twitter Poet in Residence’.
