Express Media and Voiceworks have teamed up with local comics legends Owen Heitmann and Georgina Chadderton to host a comics workshop for young people (26 and under) in the heart of the Adelaide CBD.

In a 2-hour workshop designed for beginners and the curious, Owen and Georgina will guide attendees through the fundamentals of comics:

– Character design
– Page layout
– Pencilling
– Inking
– Lettering

There will also be a discussion about the various genres and styles of comics, and how comics work as a medium of expression. All you’ll need to bring along is a sketchpad (if you own one) and enthusiasm. Paper, pens and pencils will be provided.

The workshop will be held on Sunday the 30th of November from 2 – 4 pm at Hello, Yes (12 Eliza St, Adelaide). Entry is $20, and we’ll also throw in a free Voiceworks magazine, a quarterly publication filled with fiction, non-fiction, comics, and illustrations.
