Express Media and Scribe Publications are pleased to announce the shortlist for the 2015 Scribe Nonfiction Prize for Young Writers.

The award recognises talented young writers in all areas of nonfiction and provides a professional development opportunity for a young writer, 30 or under, working on a long-form or book-length work.

The 2015 Scribe Nonfiction shortlist is:

  •  Emma Marie Jones – Something To Be Tiptoed Around Until It Goes Away

  • Clem Moriscot – In My Own Tongue

  • Patrick Mullins – A Liberal View

  • Zoya Patel – Match Fixing

  • Drew Rooke – Machine Highs

  • Samantha van Zweden – Eating With My Mouth Open

The shortlist was announced Monday following Am I A Protagonist? – a panel on nonfiction writing at the Wheeler Centre with writers Tom Doig, Briohny Doyle, Sian Campbell and Robbie Arnott.

The winner is chosen by Scribe’s editorial team and receives a cash prize of $1,500, a year’s ‘reading subscription’ to Scribe’s nonfiction titles and up to 10 hours of editorial time with a Scribe editor or publisher.

Scribe’s publisher, Henry Rosenbloom, will present the 2015 Scribe Nonfiction Prize at the annual Express Media Awards on Thursday 3 December at the Wheeler Centre.
