Mentorships

From 2003 – 2008, Express Media provided mentorships to emerging writers in the fields of short fiction, nonfiction, poetry, arts writing and playwriting.

Mentee’s worked one-on-one for six months with an established and successful mentor, who provided assistance and guidance on completing writing projects and improving their craft.

Over the 5 years of the program, mentors’ included Dorothy Porter, Linda Jaivin, Shalini Akhil, Adam Ford, Lally Katz, Anna Krien, Christos Tsiolkas, Gorkem Acaroglu, Andy Quan, Paula Abood and more.

Successful mentees included Andrew Hutchinson, who received the 2006 Victoria Premier’s Literary Award for an unpublished manuscript by an emerging writer and went on to publish his novel, Rohypnol, with Vintage in 2008.
