Digital Storytelling

What is digital storytelling? What kind of meaningful experiences can you create online? What makes digital storytelling different to other forms of writing?

Express Media is proud to present the 2022 return of Toolkits Connect: Digital Storytelling – an online course in the forms, skills, and ethics of creating stories for the web and beyond. This program will combine theoretical approaches, practical exercises, group workshopping, and one-on-one mentorship to guide young writers to experiment and develop their work in a range of digital forms.

Over a 12-week intensive, participants will work with Rory Green to develop their skills, workshop their work and connect with other writers as they analyse and produce work that buzzes, wobbles, and whirrs – writing that is interactive, generative, multimedia and massively online. During the off-weeks, the group and Rory will connect and share their work via a private online Discord channel, fostering connection and establishing relationships across the full 12 weeks.

Participants also have the chance to learn from some of Australia’s best writers, with guest artists (to be announced) presenting live and online in sessions for young writers across the country.

If you are a young writer or artist interested in digital storytelling, we want to hear from you!

Applications for this stream are now closed.
