Meredith Curnow

After studying English and Australian literature at the University of Sydney, Meredith’s first working role in the world of books and writing was at the Australian Publishers Association, where she gained a broad overview of publishing from the company side. Meredith undertook Arts Management study at the University of Technology, Sydney, while at the APA and then moved on to run a weekend-long writers festival, becoming the inaugural director of the newly formed, free-standing Sydney Writers’ Festival that is now held each year in May. She left the festival to take up a publishing role at Random House, and continuing to participate in many different industry organisations and events. This has included three years as the Treasurer at Sydney PEN, sitting on the APA Book Design Awards committee and the chair of the Australia Council/APA Residential Editorial Program.
