A Brief History
Express Media was founded in 1985 (the International Year of Youth) as an organisation devoted to giving young people access to the media. Throughout its history Express Media has been involved in providing training and development opportunities to young people in print, radio and television. Over the last few years Express Media has redefined itself to focus on young writers and artists working with words and text, and changed its annual artistic program to reflect this new focus.
In 2006, then Victorian Arts Minister Mary Delahunty described Express Media as one of the "bedrock" organisations of the arts. Our programs have given countless young people the chance to participate in exhibitions, performances, on-line projects, and various writing, media and arts projects: spoken word, photography, website design, radio presentation, journalism and creative writing.
